Frequently Asked Questions

Who is FIDIC?

FIDIC,  the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, is the global representative body for national associations of consulting engineers and represents over one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Who is the Climate Change Charters purpose?

As a global industry body representing professional engineers, there are three important considerations that we aim to address through the charter.

1 – Reduce emissions related to our own operations across the industry.
2 – Reduce embedded and operational carbon emissions in the building and infrastructure projects on which we consult, design and deliver.
3 – Support climate change adaptation through mitigation and design of disaster or event
resilient infrastructure.

What is the Climate Change Charter?

The Climate Change Charter represents a significant new call to action by FIDIC, the global consulting engineering industry body which represents over 40,000 companies and more than one million professional engineers around the world.

The charter considers infrastructure to include both hard and social elements, this means that sectors are covered from energy and transport through to hospitals and schools. We consider this to be important as it considers the extent to which engineers can help to drive reductions in emissions across the widest part of society and day-today lives.

Who can sign up to the Climate Change Charter?

FIDIC, Member Associations, Companies, projects and individuals are all able to sign up to the Climate Change Charter to help address the significant challenge we face meeting the climate challenge.
